Photography has been a lifelong passion that started early in my life and eventually led to going professional with “Lone Star Photography” when I was eighteen. Those early years consisted of photographing weddings, car shows and an occasional modeling portfolio. A few years later I worked for Olan Mills, a national portrait chain photographing thousands of families, managing studios and training photographers throughout the south and southwest. In 1985 we started Sheltons Photography in our home which turned into a multi-location family portrait and wedding business with over sixty employees. It was humbling to go from a small home studio to two commercial locations, a marketing office, frame shop and corporate office in such a short time. I worked with some very talented people as well as getting to meet so many fascinating people who sat for portrait sessions, weddings and events. Those were exciting times and I am blessed for having had those experiences These days it is just two of us, Lori and I continuing that same passion for photography that started so many years ago.
The love of photography runs in the family as well. I am blessed to share my love, adventures and passion for photography with my wife Lori who has a great eye for finding interesting compositions. In school, Lori was an art major with a concentration on photography. I love being able to get her opinion when I am debating on a composition as well as getting to view her images after a shoot.
My son Spencer owns Sheltons Photography in Arlington and is an amazing photographer as well as a great person to know and to work with. Check him out at https://www.sheltonsphotography.com
